Bansko is a charming and historic town situated in the foothills of the Pirin Mountains, and in the shadow of the imposing Mount Vihren. The resort is 130km from Sofia and Plovdiv airports, and recent road improvements have reduced the transfer time to under 2 hours.
The resort has undergone substantial improvements following investment over the last few years, and now boasts some of the most modern facilities in Eastern Europe. Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities can enjoy the 65km of marked ski runs and the snowboard fun park.
Apres ski focusses on the lively local Mehanas, which are friendly taverna-style restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks - all at astonishingly low prices compared to Western Europe. Anyone wanting livelier entertainment is well catered for by the ever increasing number of bars and nightclubs catering to the ski tourist.

| Intermediate skiers will find plenty of blue and red runs, providing plenty of practise for those committed to becoming experts, as well as for recreational skiers who have advanced beyond the beginner stage. Hands-free access to lifts and small gondola queues make Bansko a sound choice for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. | ||

| A handful of red runs and the Alberto Tomba black will keep most experts busy for a while, but Bansko is probably more popular with experts for its extreme and off-piste skiing opportunities, and the resort is a regular host to extreme competitions. The ski and snowboard fun-park area and the half-pipe facility are very popular with experts looking to hone their skills. | ||
